Member Volunteer Interests

Please take a moment to fill out the form below to volunteer for TIARA. We say it often, but it is true – TIARA is YOUR organization and it is only as good as its volunteers. You do not necessarily have to live in the Boston area or attend meetings to volunteer your time and talent.

    Monthly Meetings: If you are interested and can only do one month, please indicate that on the form – we welcome all assistance. Meetings are held monthly from September to June.

    Refreshment chairperson – arrive early to set up refreshment table at monthly meetings, coordinate goodies, and maintain supplies & bring them to the meetings. Costs for supplies are reimbursed.Bring refreshments—bring baked/purchased items for monthly meetingGreeter—arrive 30 minutes prior to monthly meeting to welcome members & assist with signing in

    Write an article, review a book, or send in a helpful hint for our newsletter. The editors would be happy to assist you. Don't be shy.Mailing party – – at the TIARA office in Sudbury for the mailing of the quarterly newsletter, membership updates or other correspondence. Usually takes about three hoursHelp staff a table at a TIARA-sponsored event—These are tables at conferences, seminars or festivals that would require as little as 3 hours of your time on a day of your choice that the event is being held. These events are announced in our newsletter and on our website. If you volunteer, we will contact you as events come up and check to see if you can assist us.Volunteer at TIARA's Library in our Sudbury office.— this opportunity would enable us to open the office/library for members to conduct research. Duties would be light and would involve welcoming visitors to the library and directing them to materials we have available. We would train you on the materials that are available for use. Help maintain checkout/check in of library books.Foresters Project - this volunteer opportunity is an occasional weekday activity at our Sudbury office. You would be trained on data entry and editing of Forester insurance records on the UMass Boston, Healey Library system.Website Committee – work with others to keep the website current. Involves mostly entering/editing text, but also opportunity to work on more technical aspects of the site.Celtic Connections Conference: volunteer at the Celtic Connections Conference August, 2020. Involves participating in conference planning and preparations before, and/or assisting with operations during the conference. If you volunteer, CCC leaders will contact you about opportunities.
