Monthly Meeting – Preparing for Your Irish Ancestry Research Trip: A Case Study with Mike Collins & Jane McGarvey

June 6, 2026 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Join us for an inspiring journey that demonstrates the power of thorough genealogical research combined with boots-on-the-ground exploration in Ireland. This presentation follows the story of a Green Room (and Tiara) member who came to us with fragmentary knowledge of their Irish roots in County Wicklow. We’ll walk through genealogist Jayne McGarvey’s detailed research process and report preparation, then share the unforgettable experience of traveling together to Ireland where we located the family’s townland of origin and discovered the actual ruins of their ancestral home. This real-life case study offers practical insights into preparing for a successful ancestry trip to Ireland – from initial research and documentation to maximizing your time on the ground, connecting with local resources, and experiencing the profound emotional impact of literally walking in your ancestors’ footsteps. Whether you’re planning your own Irish heritage journey or simply curious about the process, this presentation will show you what’s possible when professional genealogy meets purposeful travel.

This meeting will be held on Zoom and live at the Weston Library (the speaker will be on Zoom)
