You don’t have to visit Ireland to research your ancestors from the Emerald Isle! The Irish Family History Foundation website (www.rootsireland.ie) strives to make basic family history records available to descendants of the Irish world-wide online. Professional genealogist Lisa Dougherty will offer suggestions and tips on how to best use the resources of the IFHF to trace your elusive Irish ancestor!
Lisa Dougherty has been active in tracing the history of not only her own family, but many others for over 25 years. A native of upstate New York, she became interested in genealogy as a teenager when her father began investigating the origins of his Irish great grandparents. For many years, she has volunteered weekly in the Albany area conducting workshops offering assistance to family historians. She is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, and the Genealogist-in-Residence at the Irish American Heritage Museum in Albany. She resides in Guilderland, New York with her husband and college age son. For more information, visit her website at www.upstatenygenealogy.com, or “like” her Facebook.
