TIARA members receive a quarterly newsletter, usually running to 16 pages of 8 1/2 x 11.
The newsletter typically includes transcripts of programs of general interest, a calendar of upcoming events in
the genealogical community, a list of books currently available to members at a discount, members' queries, and
articles and items of interest.
The editor of the TIARA newsletter is Carlyn V. Cox.

Volunteer Opportunities
Would you like to be more involved in TIARA, but don't quite know how to do
that? The newsletter needs a lot of help, and offers varying degrees of
time commitment and geographical location - there's something for everyone!
We have the following volunteer opportunities for members in the Boston area, or outside of the Boston area.
To volunteer, send email to
the Volunteer Coordinator
or by post to the address above.
Local Requirement
Newsletter Coordinator - Be the liaison between the editor and those
submitting materials (see list below). Does not involve writng or editing,
but requires being organized.
Editor - Be responsible for the overall content of the newsletter; work
closely with the layout editor (this could be a committee).
Lecture Recordist - Requires being present at meetings, or arranging for
others to do so; responsible for sending the tapes to the transcription
volunteers (see below).
No Local Requirement
Transcriber - Transcribe lectures (to be sent to editor via email or disk)
Calendar organizer - Maintain calendar of events and/or maintain list of publications: Do
you read several genealogical publications? Requires keeping an eye out for
events/publications of interest to TIARA members.
Nuggets - Contributing those "tidbits" you read, hear about, or experience, which may
be useful to someone else.
Writer - Write articles (These are coming in regularly and we're thrilled about
that! Keep it up!)
Word Processing - Type up material submitted in non-electronic format.
(The last three items are welcome anytime by anybody, but we would like
someone to be the coordinator of each.)
