IRELAND RESEARCH TRIP: October 1 - 9, 2010
Once again, TIARA will lead a group to Dublin to research in the National Library, National Archives, Valuation Office, and other repositories. A half-day sightseeing tour is included, but the destination may be different from that shown. Be sure to check out the brochure! Click here for the application.
CONFERENCE AT SEA: Tentatively February 2011
Watch for details as we develop plans for a February 2011 Conference at Sea. The Conference would have both an historical and a genealogical concentration. Understanding the why, when and where our ancestors went might better help us in researching their individual histories.
There will not be a cruise in 2010.
What can attendees expect on a TIARA research trip?
The trip will emphasize research, but will make time for sightseeing. In fact, it is possible sometimes to do 11 hours
of research on some days! However, experienced researchers don't recommend that. Everyone needs a break. Otherwise, you
will likely miss that vital baptismal record because you are simply too tired to see it.
Each group will be accompanied by a knowledgeable researcher who will:
get you safely to the repository;
be there to offer advice, share your joy in finding a record, and your disappointment when it isn't the right one; and
get you back to the hotel with occasional excursions for shopping or sightseeing. We will have
consultations in the evenings so that we can plan the next day's campaign.
We will do everything in our power to make sure that you feel safe during your visit, be confident in your research
experience, and have fun! Non-genealogist companions can be accommodated on TIARA trips.
In the meantime, check out the photos taken on the previous trips!
