TIARA Travels 2012TBD: New York City What's the most enjoyable way to research your family history? Field trips with fellow researchers, of course! On October 10, 2012, TIARA will be heading back to Ireland. Instead of the usual one-week trip, however, this year we will be spending ten days in Dublin. The group will be attending the Back to Our Past Conference, located at the Royal Dublin Society. The Irish have become very interested in genealogy, especially in finding their connections in the United States, Canada, Australia, and other locations. TIARA may be able to help them in their search. You will find some familiar names among the presenters, including John Grenham and Eileen Ó Dúill. This year, researchers will be staying at St Stephen Green Hotel, just a few blocks from the National Library and the National Archives, and near the park. Click here for the trip brochure. If you're interested in either of the trips above, or have a suggestion of a research destination, let us know by sending an email to trips@tiara.ie to receive updates, ask questions, or to put your name on a particular trip's attendee list. Once a trip fills up, we will take names for a waiting list.. We will update this page with additional details as they become available. Trips are open to TIARA members. Guests of members may also attend at the same discounted rate. To become a member of TIARA, click here for a form to complete. What can attendees expect on a TIARA research trip? The trip will emphasize research, but will make time for sightseeing. In fact, it is possible sometimes to do 11 hours of research on some days! However, experienced researchers don't recommend that. Everyone needs a break. Otherwise, you will likely miss that vital baptismal record because you are simply too tired to see it. Each group will be accompanied by a knowledgeable researcher who will:
We will do everything in our power to make sure that you feel safe during your visit, be confident in your research experience, and have fun! Non-genealogist companions can be accommodated on TIARA trips. In the meantime, check out the photos taken on the previous trips! |
